An end, a new beginning: Sharpen the Saw

Alhamdulillah, the first quarter of the academic year has completed and today, the Meet The Parents session has successfully took place in IIS (P).

There's a lot to think back and reflect.

InshaAllah, the term break will be a good time for me (and other teachers too) to do some reflection, planning and empowerment of our own self.

It's an end, yet a new beginning.

May Allah open the way and make easy our tasks as the Khalifah (educator).

Thanks to all parents of IIS(P), for the feedback, support, care and trust for the teachers.

InshaAllah, we are here to complete and to give.

There is always, always, always room for improvement when solution is the core of the business.

Smile, open your heart and have a meaningful holidays!

Improvement begins with 'I'

I have learned a lot of lessons last week, Alhamdulillah.

And after all, those lessons are closely related to 'improvement' which is my bar of chocolate.

I would like to give a credit to my lecturer Dr. Abu Hassan for his simple yet meaningful words that has sparked some 'energy' to my own self.

"Apa pun yang kamu nak buat, mestilah ada disiplin, buat secara konsisten. Jaga hubungan dengan orang lain".

Although he is referring his words to our project paper or mini research, I just can't deny that, the advice is very much valid and applicable in a bigger scale of our daily life.

We should always have control on our own actions, be consistent (istiqamah) with the good deeds or effort and should maintain good rapport with people around us (ukhuwah ~ hablum minannaas).

So, let's improve brothers and sisters. Let's start little but consistent, InshaAllah.

For him (each person), there are angels in succession, before and behind him.

They guard him by the Command of Allah.

Verily, Allah will not change the (good) condition of a people as long as they do not change their state (of goodness) themselves (by committing sins and by being ungrateful and disobedient to Allah).

But when Allâh wills a people's punishment, there can be no turning it back, and they will find besides Him no protector.

(Al-Qur'an Surah Ar-Ra'du verse 11)

It's True

It's true only by remembering Allah, the heart will find true happiness, calmness and peace.

After a few hectic weekdays and weekends, I have learnt that sometimes things are not going on like what we want, but definitely Allah has better plan for us.

With Bismillah, I take the challenge (of being a working post-grad student). This is an 'amanah', and InshaAllah I will move forward to fulfill the 'amanah' and to be a better Muslim.

It is never to late to move, to take action and to improve.

It is our responsibility too, as a Khalifah to make ourself good as well as to help others become good.

Bismillahi Allahuakbar!

Those who believed (in the Oneness of Allah), and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah, verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.

(Surah Ar-Ra'du verse 28)

Let's Face It

InshaAllah, tomorrow the semester will begin.

And this will be my second semester with a new status as a post-grad (part time) student.

I pray that everything will go on smoothly,

I pray that Allah will help me and my fellow friends.

I put all the trust and hope on Allah and I know that Allah will always be there for me and for you.

Bismillahi Allahuakbar!

Let's face it!

Ash-Shams

I miss to 'perform' the song.

I miss to join them again and recharge.

May Allah give me opportunity (again) to 'feel the experience' and 'have a meaningful life', InshaAllah.

O Allah, make us among those who purifies our own self Ya Rabbi.

By the sun and its brightness.

By the moon as it follows it (the sun).

By the day as it shows up (the sun's) brightness.

By the night as it conceals it (the sun).

By the heaven and Him Who built it.

By the earth and Him Who spread it.

By Nafs (Adam or a person or a soul), and Him Who perfected him in proportion;

Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him.

Indeed he succeeds who purifies his own self.

And indeed he fails who corrupts his own self.

(Al-Qur'an Surah Ash-Shams verses 1 to 10)

...speechless...

I have a lot of things in mind, all making me to end up with mixed feelings.

Of course, it might not be suitable to write every details here,

but what I can conclude; all of them are about IMPROVEMENT in the effort TO BE CLOSER TO ALLAH.

After the Merdeka Raya celebration held at my school yesterday, I have a lot to reflect on my own self (as a teacher, as a Khalifah) as well as on the organization I'm currently involved in.

I think it is shameful to have such situations. Yea, I might not need to explain in details what's the thing that makes me feel that way.

Deep in my heart, I have set few goals to achieve.

I want to be (at least) the agent of change.

I trust Allah, I know when there's a will, there's always a way, InshaAllah.

O Allah, please help me, make me strong, make easy my tasks.

Success is not a blink, you have to 'pay' for it.

(Al-Qur'an Surah Al-Hadid ayat 16)

Count Every Details

Alhamdulillah, I have just returned from KMS, after attending a fulfilling, refreshing session by Ustaz Hasrizal Abdul Jamil.

The topic for tonight is 'I Must be MUSLIM in IBADAH'.

Besides the main points that highlight the importance of integrating or framing 'ibadah' value in our daily life (no matter who we are), not separating the dunya and akhirah as both are interrelated to each other, I like the last point the most:

ITQAN --> Count Every Details

Subhanallah, I've been in love with the word Itqan since I learnt the meaning when I was a teenager.

Now, I'm deeply in love with Itqan and InshaAllah I'm in the look of making Itqan my work culture.

So, let's start now.

Start little but continuous.

We might not be able to change the world, but we can always change our own self (with true commitment) InshaAllah.

There is always, always, always rooms for improvement!

A Visit to Remember

Alhamdulillah, I've just returned from a visit to Teacher Siti's open house (one of KMS (my former school) teacher).

Not only the food is good, but one thing that I value the most is every moment captured during the evening.

I can feel the warmth although I'm no longer one of them (I'm not a KMS teacher anymore, but InshaAllah will always be a Khalifah teacher).

Thank you Allah for giving me good friends, good peers, good time, good health and good experience.

Alhamdulillah 'ala kullihal Ya Allah.

When WE recite Khalifah oath..

"Teacher, teacher, I'm Khalifah of Allah", said Asma.

I'm very happy to share that this week my students have recited the Khalifah oath twice.

Some of them are eager to memorise the oath too..MashaAllah.

And InshaAllah, they (we) will be doing this continously until the values are instilled in them (us).

Bismillahirohmaanirroheem,

I am Khalifah of Allah.

It is my responsibility to:
  • make myself good
  • help others become good
  • make the physical world good, clean and beautiful, pleasing to Allah.

Al 'Ilm

Knowledge

1. All knowledge comes from Allah.

2. The more knowledge we have, the closer we are to Allah.

3. The closer we are to Allah, the better we know Him.

4. The closer we are to Allah, the more special we are to Him.

5. The more special we are to Him, the more Allah loves us.

Allah is the One who SAVE me!

It is raining and the sun is no longer shining.

People are hurrying home for iftar or for many other reasons.

I'm driving alone with the aim to reach the house as quickly as possible.

Focusing on my 'aim', I almost forget that others might have the same aim too.

Then, there is a fuel tank lorry speeding like a speeding lorry,

and within seconds, I'm almost involved in a car crash!

Nothing can stop that from happen except ALLAH.

Allahuakbar!

My heartbeat increase drastically and that was the first time I experienced such situation.

O Allah, please forgive me for my carelessness.

O Allah, thank you for saving me, for giving me more time to live and to improve (InshaAllah).

I promise to be a more careful and a more alert driver.

Alhamdulillah a'la kullihal.

He (Allah) said: "Fear not, verily, I am with you both, hearing and seeing.

Scientific Smell =)

"Wow, teacher, it's smell like really scientific!". A remark from a Grade 4 student when he entered the Science lab.

Mmm..this is the first time I heard about 'scientific smell'.

Thank you for making me smile, dear.

And also you make me realize how wonderful our senses are.

Thank you Allah for giving us nose not only to breath, but also to experience the blessing of scent.

A 'Reward' to Inspire

"Teacher, I'm going to miss you and I'll never forget to cut my nails again."

"Ooh, it's so touching teacher."

"Can I hug you, teacher?" and she doesn't wait for the response.

O Allah, please bless the kids, make them good people fiddunya wal akhirah.

Yes, there's more of this kind of 'reward' when I'm with Khalifah Model School, only that they are not posted in this blog, but InshaAllah will always be fresh in my heart.

I love all my students, wherever they are. Hopefully they all can be my 'saver' when the time comes.

Framing 'Ibadah' Value in Our Career

Life in dunya is the bridge to the life in akhirah.

We should always bare in mind that the life here is not forever and is not real BUT does carry significant impact towards our life hereafter.

Therefore, to all working Muslim out there, let's frame our career so that it has 'ibadah' value, it provides valuable meaning, it sustains our motivation to be closer to Allah and it sparks the spirit of giving.

Let's change our perception, our world view of what we are doing now.

As for teachers,

relief class:
previously -- a burden, I have no time to rest
now -- extra time for me to write good messages to my students (to be closer to Allah)

meeting:
previously -- a long, tiring, waste of time session
now -- brain storming, solutions finding, information clarifying session

clerical work:
previously -- tedious, never ending tasks
now -- practice to be a well organized person, an effort for improvement measures in the future

and the list might be longer.

Let's purify our intention, give the best we can and InshaAllah we will be happy in the end.

Verily, along with every hardship is relief,

Verily, along with every hardship is relief.

So when you have finished (your occupation), devote yourself to Allah's worship.

And to your Lord (Alone) turn (all your) intentions and hopes.

(Surah As-Syarh verses 5 to 8)

Have a break, Have a Tilawah

InshaAllah, this Ramadhan will be a perfect time for us to take a break with Tilawatul Qur'an.

It should be our company everywhere, everyday.

Yes, tomorrow (17 Ramadhan) is Nuzul Al-Qur'an, so let's colour our day with the colours from Al-Qur'an, let's refresh our day with refreshment from Al-Qur'an and let's make them our habit and routine.

Smile, and keep smiling.

Sabr, be patient and be calm.

Say Astaghfirullah.

Think of 'win-win' solution.

We are here to COMPLETE, and not to compete.

Unconditional Love

Mama, thank you for being there for me.

Abah, thank you for standing there for me.

Allah, thank you very much for my lovely parents who love unconditionally, who sacrifice willingly, who care for everything that happen, who support whatever things I'm doing and who always be there no matter what. Thank you Allah, Alhamdulillah.

May they will be rewarded with the best reward ~ Jannatul Firdaus, InshaAllah.

Mama, Abah, I love you just the way you are.

Hikmah Programme and Khalifah Method ~ A Beautiful Duo

I'm currently looking forward to teach Hikmah Programme class in IIS.

Alhamdulillah, after the briefing I feel more confident and have more courage to start the class with my beloved Grade 5 IN children.

It is basically a programme that is designed to enhance students' thinking skill, communication skill as well as to increase their confident level. Yeah, all that are related to self improvement (in the effort to be closer to Allah), which is my bag of books.

InshaAllah, I will also include Khalifah Method knowledge in my teaching and daily routine and InshaAllah I am also in the look of introducing and sharing the knowledge with IIS family (teachers, students, parents and staffs). May Allah ease my intention and my way.

I love my Muslim brothers and sisters and yes, InshaAllah we will work together to make ourself good, to help others become good and to make the physical world good.

Allah..I'm so small. I know that the more we seek for knowledge the more we will realize that we are nobody. There is always something new to learn and to be thankful for. Alhamdulillah.

Say (O Muhammad [salAllahu 'alayhi wasallam] to mankind):

"If the sea were ink for (writing) the Words of my Lord, surely the sea would be exhausted before the Words of my Lord would be finished,

even if We brought (another sea) like it for its aid."

I'm Loving It

I really love the word REFLECTION as it carries powerful meaning literally.

I learn to do REFLECTION objectively when I am a little bit older, but I'm sure I have done more REFLECTION at my younger age without knowing that was actually called REFLECTION.

Alhamdulillah, thank you Allah for giving me the ability to REFLECT.

It is always a way to do Muhasabah (self-check) on our own words or actions.

It is very exciting to see new faces of students from many countries.

InshaAllah, we are going to know each other, to have fun and live a meaningful life together.

I am looking forward to my teaching and learning experience at IIS.

Till the End

Allahu..

Innalillahi wainnailaihi raaji'uun..

I just got the news of the death of one of my student, Fatin Fasihah Hanafi (MEP 9) after suffering from SLE.

May she will be placed among the righteous in Jannah.

A big reminder from HIM.

Let's repent and ask Allah for His Forgiveness.

Everyone shall taste death. Then to Us you shall be returned.

(Surah Al-'Ankabut verse 57)

Khalas!

Astaghfirullah.

I deeply regret for allowing myself to be stuck in that building today.

Wasting hours for a long queue, which is not worth it at all.

I promise to myself not to do such thing again, enough, khalas!

InshaAllah, for this coming Ramadhan (and after Ramadhan too), I will try my best to utilize the time wisely and professionally.

Allah, please forgive us and please help us to be a better and productive Muslim.

By Al-'Asr (the time). Verily, man is in loss,

Except those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds,

and recommend one another to the truth,

and recommend one another to patience (for the sufferings, harms, and injuries which one may encounter in Allah's Cause during preaching His religion of Islamic Monotheism or Jihad).

(Surah Al-'Asr verses 1 - 3)

Driving at Night

Alhamdulillah, today for the first time I am driving at night.

New nerve cells on my brain are developed and connected.

Thank you Allah for this ability and skill.

Thank you mum and dad for your trust.

Dhuha

There's so many colours in the rainbow, so many colours in the morning sun, so many colours in the flowers,

and I see everyone. Alhamdulillah a'la kullihal Ya Rabbi.

Let's do Solat Dhuha. Have a blessed Jumu'ah =)

Ukhuwah

Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, Allahuakbar.

Thank you Allah for giving me good sahabah, from my childhood time until now.

No word can be used to describe the blessing of ukhuwah.

To my dearest sister Aainaa Mardhiah Razali..thank you for always being there.

On top of everything, Allah is always there to listen to us, to accompany us, to look after us.

Thank you Allah.

Kak Aina, I miss you a lot. May Allah reunite us again, InshaAllah.

Healing

It is hard to explain what I am feeling.

But I guess it's OK cause I keep believing,

there's something deep inside, something that's calling.

I love the song. The lyrics is meaningful and beautiful, Subhanallah.

~ heal, and you will be healed ~

Bidayatul Kalam
